Hostal Santa Cruz Madrid

A reference among the Hostels in Madrid. Santa Cruz Hostel has been fully refurbished in the year 2004. All the rooms with bathroom. A referencial Madrid Hostel. It is in condition to offer a great comfort and an nice rest. Placed just 20mts from the Plaza Mayor, 50 from the Puerta del Sol and a few minutes walking to the most important museums of the city, Prado, Thyssen, Reina Sofia and the historical zone of the city Madrid de los Austrias, where you can visit the Royal Palace, The Plaza Mayor, the Almudena cathedral, etc. Its situation allows the visitor to enjoy a variety of leisure options, bars, pubs, discos, cinemas, theatres, restaurants, all of them available just walking.

From the airport By underground, you have to change twice (three lines) go to Sol (several alternatives). In Sol take the Calle Mayor Exit, walk for about 20/30 mts and turn on the left in the Calle Esparteros, this ends in the Plaza Santa Cruz.(Price: single ticket 1,15€, ticket of 10, less than 6€). By Taxi, aproximately 20 minutes (depends on the traffic) its arround 25-30€. Take the highway N-II to Madrid, this will bring you to Avenida de America, continue straight on to Paseo de la Castellana, turn left until you reach Cibeles. In Cibeles turn right, there are two streets, take the one to the left which brings you to Sol. (See underground) From Atocha Train Station By underground, direct line to Sol. Once in Sol take the Calle Mayor Exit, walk for about 20/30 mts and turn on the left in the Calle Esparteros, this ends in the Plaza Santa Cruz. (Price: single ticket 1,15€, ticket of 10, less than 6€). By Taxi drive up Atocha, turn on the right to Plaza Santa Cruz. We strongly recommend to use the underground in Madrid, it is the fastest way to reach the centre of Madrid as the traffic in Madrid is very dense during most of the day and it is common to get in the middle of a traffic jam.

Una estancia perfecta en el centro de Madrid. La habitación muy linda y bien alumbrada y a pesar de que esté en el Centro, muy poco ruido por la noche. Muy lindo también el salón a disposición de los huespedes con también la posibilidad de tomarse un café o un thé a la maquina que han puesto en el salón.

Estadía fantástica..!!! La ubicación es inmejorable al igual que su acceso . Cuenta con una ambientación hermosa y es muy cómodo. La única sugerencia para dar, es que sería más que conveniente contar con nevera en la habitación. De todas maneras es muy recomendable y volvería sin dudarlo.

For the price this hostel is great for basic comfort, accessibility to an interesting neighbourhood and Sol metro - 3 mins walk away. The double room with private bathroom was very small with no view. Double glazed French doors to the square were kept closed to keep noise from the square out but a heavy exterior shutter stayed down the whole time making the room dark and claustrophobic. Air con was good but had to stay on.

Amazing location, lovely clean rooms. The quality for this price is exceptional. Really opened my eyes to stay in a hostal rather than hotel in Madrid. It can be quite noisy outside as it is a city and the walls are paper thin inside but we both sleep with ear plugs so we were absolutely fine!

Great location. Very nice and professional staff. I have stayed here many times. Nice to have the elevator when arriving with luggage. Tiny showers but normal for a hostel. Nice cafe in the plaza directly in front of the building entrance - not related to the hostel but perfect for afternoon drink after a day of sightseeing.

Bien dans l'ensemble, bien situé, très propre. Un peu bruyant (surtout la nuit de samedi à dimanche) , la chambre étant à côté de la cage d'escalier; les portes, dont celles de l'ascenseur, grincent et le bruit résonne dans tout l'immeuble.

One elderly gentleman was very impatient and commented to other spanish customers « Americanos » in a very derogatory fashion ..I replied that we were Canadiens but he ignored me ...the young woman the next day was very accommodating and helpful...thank God

Lo unico que faltaba era espacio para abrir mi maleta. La caja de seguridad en el armario bloqueaba el lugar ideal. Estuve en el Hostal Santa Cruz a principios de mis vacaciones en España. Me habria gustado volver al final de mi viaje, pero no habia habitacion disponible.
